Singapore

THIS year's National Day Rally speech will be delivered by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Sunday, Aug 21, at the Institute of Technical Education (ITE).

A statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said that Mr Lee will speak at the following times:

  • 6.40 pm to 7.30 pm - Malay and Mandarin
  • 8.00 pm to 10.00 pm - English

His speech can be seen live at www.youtube.com/pmosingapore and www.ndr.sg. Sign language interpretation will be provided for the live stream.

The rally will also be broadcast on local TV channels and radio stations.

Singapore's feedback unit, REACH (reaching everyone for active citizenry @ home), will be collecting feedback on Mr Lee's speech from Aug 21 to Sept 4.

Feedback will be sought via face-to-face dialogues, as well as listening points to online platforms such as Twitter and "live" Facebook chats.

Said REACH: "For the first time, REACH will be organising 'live' Facebook chats incorporating a video element. A panel of chairpersons will respond to Singaporeans' questions and comments posted on the 'live' Facebook chats verbally via video. These chats will be streamed in real-time on Facebook."
